We had a cheerful week!

This week we....
  • watched the Anderson High School Band perform!
  • continued Daily 5!
  • are doing spelling!
  • went to the computer lab where we played a money game and built roller coasters on the computer!
  • went to the library!
  • learned about circular motion and built our own tops!
  • went to the butterfly trailer which showed us the life cycle of a butterfly. We saw caterpillars, chrysalis, and Monarch butterflies!
  • earned 3 out of 4 green cones this week! BIGGGGG SADDNESSS again...HOPEFULLY next week will be the week for all 5 green cones so we can have a chance to eat on stage!
  • filled up the marble jar today!
  • started taking AR tests.
  • went to the science lab and learned linear motion. We made twirly birds!
  • made our own roller coasters. We learned that the larger the slope, the faster the marble will go.
  • watched it rain! :)
  • saw some money that some friends brought from home.
  • were experimenting with balance.
  • 2 friends brought tops from home that they built! Challenge: use your knowledge from school to build objects that demonstrate linear and circular motion at home!
  • had a friend share a shiny 2010 penny.
  • are continuing to read The Trumpet of the Swan! We are almost finished!
  • started learning about Africa! Did you know that Africa has the largest desert in the world and the longest river in the world?! It has 53 countries!
  • learned new vocabulary. We like the word topple which means to fall over.

Trip to the Library

My new door sign that was a surprise...I have a suspicion my wonderful classroom parents had something to do with this! A BIG thank you!

Miss Hawthorne really loves Humphrey who lives next door in Mrs. Brown's room!

Over the weekend Ms. Hawthorne visited family in Beaumont. She met her new baby cousin Nick and her 3 year old cousin Nate!
