Last week we...

  • listened to many Africa book read-alouds and wrote a story about our trip around Africa!
  • water-colored a map of Africa.
  • started adding 2-digit numbers with regrouping in Math.
  • had the BOOK FAIR! (THANK YOU THANK YOU to those of you who purchased us books for our classroom! We have been enjoying reading them!
This week we...
  • earned all of our marbles and watched the Lion King as our reward!
  • took an African Safari!
  • worked on our African masks!
  • made African necklaces.
  • played Mancala (an African game). It's the world's oldest game.
  • saw a museum of African artifacts.
  • played a walnut game.
  • listened to a book called "The Great Wonder" about Africa.
  • read the books that our class bought us from the book fair! WE LOVE THEM!
  • had a visit from Ms. Matthys who talked to us about sharing and being fair.
  • continued talking about Author's Purpose.
  • Started learning about the weather and temperature.
  • Did an experiment with water and temperature at home. Did your water freeze? What does that mean the temperature was like outside?
