We got Hermit Crabs!

A student's family has kindly shared their hermit crabs, Bubbles and Freedom Crab with us! Right now, only Bubbles will come out to talk to us. Freedom Crab has burrowed in the sand to shed his exoskeleton and get a new shell. He should be out to greet us in the next 6 weeks I am told! :) The kids are very excited to have a class pet. They kept asking for rats (since I understand many of the 1st grade classes had them last year). I just could not bring myself to have a pet rat in my room (even though I do love animals...there's just something about rats that screams "I do NOT belong in Miss Hawthorne's classroom!")
